Actual
Condition
It is reported this 45' Cruisers struck a sand
bar in Biscayne Bay and sank. Upon inspection, it is noted there are abrasions
on both the port and starboard sides of the hull, which appeared to be the result
of the salvage efforts.
The
running gear was inpected and found to have damage consistent with grounding in
sand/ and or soft bottom. The starboard shaft strut had punched a large rectangular
hole through the hull of the craft and the starboard prop had dug into the hull
while the craft was likely grounded. These holes have been authorized for temporary
repair.
Generator
& Auxillary Equipment
A/C,
wiring harness, batteries, pumps, desalimator, etc all equipment in the engine
room was fully submerged and fully energized when the craft sank and will need
to be replaced.
Helm
& Navigation
The
helm station was fully submerged and the instruments and navigation equipment
were found to be full of water and "fogging". It is recommended to replace
all sighted equipment.
Electrical
It is reported that the breakers were bleeding rust. It is likely that when the
Cruisers went down, this panel was fully energized and there is extensive electrical
damage. It is suspected that the craft will require a full re-wire.
Equipment
No
trailer is included
