General Description

Designed, engineered, and built by an experienced team. The boat was conceived and built by Skeet Perry, an experienced boat builder known in both the South Florida and Northern California sailing communities. He enlisted Georg Thomas, a naval architect and engineer with extensive experience in the design and engineering of free-standing wing masts and sailing hulls.

The design criteria were to create a quick, shorthanded, easy to maintain boat with a draft suitable for Biscayne Bay and have the ability to increase upwind performance in deeper water. Echo has a carbon, free standing, rotating wing mast. The mast rotates on a tapered carbon mandrel (built using an autoclave) extending from the keelson to approximately 7ft above the deck. The boat has a light displacement of 9,000lbs (3,000lbs ballast) with a variable draft keel that is able to sail with a draft between 4'9" and 6'6". It carries an asymmetrical spinnaker on an articulating deck mounted retractable pole and has auxiliary power of two retractable outboards. Mainsail is 466 sq. ft., staysail 235 sq. ft, and spinnaker 758 sq. ft. Echo's overall length is 40' with beam of 12'. It has a transom hung rudder with tiller steering. The boat has no complex systems, mechanicals, or rigging to maintain.

Actual Condition

This vessel is in great condition and ready for use. She is a great day or charter boat with basic accommodations. 6 berths in an open cabin.
